Already starting to think its very possible for people to have been duping by Trading item to second account>Having second account log off>DCing and semi rollbacking First account.

I agree, people saying shit like we are ANON and will bring down blah blah blah will probably be dealt with but as for the people who clicked it a few times out of curiosity would be incredibly harsh if they receive a ban.

Which is really convenient when you keep opening coffers of whispers until it is an armbrace.

And for those upset with the actions of certain individuals, Gaile also posted this:
If anyone happened to notice someone taunting or threatening other players with this exploit, I’d very much appreciate if you send me their name(s) via Private Message. Please do not post them here. And please be aware that before any action is taken on any account, we will fully verify that person’s involvement.
Thank you.
Further FYI.

I am more worried about Aycee's theory. People could have dupped 1750 armbraces every 30 seconds.
I also wonder if any Minipets were dupped.

Most likely if what I think actually works, we'll find out tomorrow if there's an increase in Rare Minis being sold off or stacks of ectos/arms causing a lot of deflation.

I did go into Observe mode and disconnected myself by selecting the HoH match and trying to observe it. I didn't know at that point that I would disconnect the whole Embark Beach district I was in. I thought I would only disconnect me directly and was curious. I had no mischief or malicious intent. I thought the mass disconnects were related but not directly caused by someone using the Observe feature. Then I found out it was and didn't do it again.

Was in FA earlier and same thing happened there too. And there was a guy counting to next dc and saying he figured out how he can't avoid being dc'd.

TBH i don't think duping happened. I think it's a lot more realistic that a ton of items were lost then the other way around

Thank you for your reports, and thank you also for your patience as we complete the work we need to do to close the exploit and deal with those who abused it.
P.S. Using an exploit results in account termination.

But do consider our perspective: Commonly, the first thing that a guilty person says is, “I was just testing it!” Next most common are, “You guys closed it before I had a chance to report” or, of course, “Someone else was on my account.”
I don’t mean to make light of using an exploit. It really is a serious issue for us, and we take it extremely seriously. As of tonight, players have been banned and many more will be banned over the next couple of days. Please give us some time to sort this out.
Thanks.

If you hear about an exploit, tell us via any means on the contact Support page. (Obviously, you shouldn’t post an exploit in the forums.) At the very least, PM us here, although a ticket or email is preferable.
And please stop speculating on what will happen to those who “tested” the exploit. That matter remains in the hands of ArenaNet and NCsoft, and it doesn’t serve any purpose to use this official forum as a hotbed of speculation and guesswork. I am closing this thread. Please do not start a new one on this or any related subject. Thank you.

So let me translate what is actually going to happen based on the mirage of a public relations employee trying to make punishment sound more severe.
Accounts will be terminated but only if you openly admitted you were doing the crash such as the people doing count downs or demanding ecto to stop.
The reality is they don't know who did it because it may have been a hard crash with no tracing or even worse case scenario if you ban anyone who did it what happens to the people who were tricked into it or who actually tried to watch the HA match.
So the end result is this if you openly admitted to doing it and someone took an ss of you doing such act you have either already been banned or will in the next few days.
TL;DR Version:
They are only going to ban the people who openly admitted to the exploit and got reported.

TBH I think they may end up banning a lot more and then do the complaints later.

When I did the crash once, thinking it would only affect me, I went back to the district I was in and found out the whole district got disconnected. I explained it was me and that I didn't know that would happen. I thought the mass disconnections were from some server or observer mode overload or something. I didn't think it was directly triggered by someone going into observer mode. When I found out by asking the district what happened, then I knew and I didn't do it again.
Anyways, for those who purposefully did this, I think a suspension would be better than a ban.

Its not like the servers completely crashed down. All the bug did was disconnect people in towns and after talking with a few people I highly doubt it allowed people to duplicate items. I question how far Anet will go with this since they don't even ban the bots that plague JQ contantly, some of them being there for months and syncers run rampant due to an exploit that the EULA says will result in account termination. All people had to do was press 2 buttons to dc an entire district.

Yes, people can be totally stupid so this will always be the "knee jerk reaction". The onus really comes back to the company that made the product, to ensure that if this(or any other possible issue) was to happen there would be no ill effects to the end user. That is what product testing is for, isn't it? I agree with banning people who "exploited" the situation, but Anet has to take some responsibility here, don't they?
Just my 2 cents.
